Internet Sales Tax? U.S. Citizens Weigh In

This is a tough call. Really, it is. Most states have a use tax or import duty that exists on their books. People are (on paper) supposed to be calculating the sales tax and then sending it in to the state. However, very few people do, and many states are not going to spend precious resources harassing the citizenry over this matter.

The argument is definitely complex. Will the implementation of tax collection hurt or destroy web businesses. Should brick and mortar businesses continue to get hurt when web businesses do not have to actually beat the price that consumers would pay in stores (Ex. $50, plus tax vs. $50 and no sales tax)?

If the choice was between the loss of critical services, higher payroll or investment taxes and actually collecting the taxes that people actually owe, what would you choose?
